How to Add an Exit-Intent Banner in InstaVert | Step-by-Step Tutorial

Video Transcription:

In this video we’re going to show you how to add an exit intent banner to a demo request page. So we’re going to go to the trigger section of Instavert, manage triggers, and here you can see a list of all the active triggers on the website. We’re going to create a new trigger and we’re going to name this trigger test page exit intent. We have the option of launching this trigger on the main domain or a subdomain. For this demo, we’re gonna stay in the main domain and we’re gonna put it on the test page.

We’re gonna create a new condition. So what we’re saying here is when this condition is met, we want this action to trigger. So let’s set the condition. We’ll name it test page, exit intent banner. We’ll select the type of condition so we have the option of hovering, hovering over an element, timer on a global level or time spent on the overall page, timer on an element level, meaning time spent on a certain element or within a certain section of the website, scroll depth from zero to 100%, exit intent, which is what we’re gonna choose.

We can also target returning visitors who have been to the website over the past 30 days, and we can target different traffic channels, whether that’s direct, paid, organic, social, et cetera. So for this demo, we’re gonna choose exit intent, and we’re not gonna select a specific element that we want the user to exit out of. Instead, we’re gonna keep the default of body. So when they move the mouse up to the top of the screen, they try to exit the page. We want this condition to be met. So we’re gonna save the condition.

And then next, we’re gonna create the action that triggers based upon when this condition is met. So we’ll create a new action. We’ll just call this test page exit intent banner. Now we have the option of adding an element with HTML. We can change styling with CSS. We can replace text or we can remove an element. So for this, we’re going to add an element with HTML. We’re going to use a select element tool. We want the banner to show up at the top of the screen. So we’re going to select the menu, hit confirm, and then we are going to paste our code in here for the banner. A very simple banner with a red background, white color font. It says book a quick demo and will show how Instavert adapts your site mid-session with safe, explainable changes, no commitment. And then we’re going to save the action and save the trigger. And that’s it. Now we’re going to make sure that it’s triggering properly on the page. So we’re going to open up an incognito window and we’re gonna go to instavert.ai/testpage. And this is the test page, scrolling around. This is the general request demo page. When you go to leave, boom, it’s triggered at the top. Book a quick demo and we’ll show how Instavert adapts your site mid-session with safe, explainable changes, no commitment, which should encourage the user to come to the form and fill out the form to request a demo. So once that trigger is live, you can review on the trigger overview section over the last seven days, how many sessions there are, how many bounce sessions, the bounce rate. You can see exit intent anomalies that have been detected, folks leaving the website, page scroll depth, understanding that 37% of the users have scrolled down 100% of the page. And then below, you can see all the triggers, all active and paused.
